About BC Apps Market

What is BC Apps Market?

BC Apps Market is an independent online app marketplace operated by BCAppsDev LLC. It allows users to browse, purchase, and download mobile and desktop applications directly from developers. BC Apps Market charges a 20% commission on paid third-party apps. Developers receive the remaining 80% minus Stripe processing fees, refunds, chargebacks, and applicable adjustments.

Who operates it?

BC Apps Market is owned and operated by BCAppsDev LLC, an independent software company that builds mobile apps and the marketplace platform itself. The company develops its own apps (including What's Down There, What's Over the Bow, What's Out There, Offline Survival Guide, My Usual, and Shark Beach Attack) and also opens the marketplace to third-party developers.

What makes it different?

  • Clear pricing: Paid third-party apps have a $2.99 minimum and a 20% marketplace commission. Stripe processing fees are deducted separately. Free apps have no checkout or commission.
  • Direct sales: Developers sell directly to consumers with no middleman taking a large cut.
  • Content moderation: App names and descriptions receive automated text screening, and every submission requires manual approval before publishing. Developers remain responsible for providing malware-free files.
  • Community reporting: Users can report inappropriate apps, which are reviewed by the admin team.
  • Transparent pricing: No hidden fees. Developers see exactly what they earn.
  • Multiple platforms: Android, Windows, and Mac app files can be listed. iOS marketplace support is coming soon and will follow Apple distribution requirements.

How does buying work?

Customers browse apps on the marketplace, click to purchase, and are taken to a secure Stripe checkout page. Payment is processed by Stripe — BC Apps Market does not store credit card information. After purchase, customers receive a download link or license key. One-time purchases grant a perpetual license. Subscriptions (for apps like What's Down There and What's Over the Bow) are billed annually and can be canceled at any time.

How does selling work?

Developers register, connect a Stripe account for paid sales, upload a supported Android, Windows, or Mac app file, provide app details, and agree to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and DMCA Policy. The app name and description receive automated text screening, and the submission then enters a manual review queue. Once approved, the app goes live. For paid apps, BC Apps Market charges a 20% commission; Stripe processing fees and applicable adjustments are deducted separately from developer proceeds.

What about free apps?

"Free" on BC Apps Market means free to download. Some free apps may display ads, require in-app purchases to unlock features, offer limited trials, or collect data. BC Apps Market does not control, review, or profit from ads or data collection in third-party apps. Users should review each app's privacy policy before installing.

Content guidelines

BC Apps Market does not allow apps containing nudity, sexual content, hate speech, racism, Nazi or white supremacy symbols (including swastikas), graphic violence, terrorism promotion, illegal drug content, or malware. Listing text is screened automatically and every submission requires manual approval, but no review process can guarantee that an app is risk-free. Violating apps are removed and developer accounts may be banned.

Technology

BC Apps Market is built with Next.js and TypeScript, deployed on Vercel. Payments are processed by Stripe. App files are hosted on Cloudflare R2. Data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL). App names and descriptions use automated text moderation (OpenAI Moderation API with keyword fallback), followed by manual submission review.
